Dr. Arnold provides "Trauma Surgeon" coverage per contract to Genesis East and Illini trauma centers. This includes responsibility for initial evaluation, stabilization, emergency surgery, subspecialty consultation and management of all major trauma.

Trauma related postgraduate training has included the U.S. Navy Flight Surgeon program NAS Pensacola, FL and the U.S. Army Flight Surgeon program Fort Rucher, AL.

Active duty responsibilities during Desert shield/ Desert Storm included coordination of mass casualty preparations as Senior Navy MC Liason officer Charleston Air Force Base.

Trauma related competency is maintained through ongoing CME requirements, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certification.
